Chop Shop isn't a masterclass and it isn't a beginners' course — it's for players who've been stuck on the same plateau for years and want a room that pulls them off it. Nobody gets put on the spot, and nobody plays alone unless they want to.

Meet Sam

Sam is a working session guitarist and educator influenced by guitar wizards such as Tom Quayle, Guthrie Govan, John Mayer & Joey Landreth.Across his career, Sam has been touring and recording all over the world, working in studios and venues such as Abbey Road, Dean Street, The Roundhouse and The Royal Albert Hall while continuing to teach, compose his own music, and appear at gear and guitar shows in the UK. He also creates YouTube content alongside educational content for Jam Track Central.Sam has taken players from their first chords to gigging standard, and Chop Shop is his answer to the question every student asks him eventually: “this is great — but who do I actually play with?”"The most important thing is getting to hang out and play with other people - I've noticed huge improvements in everybody's playing over the years whenever they're around other like-minded musicians, and Chop Shop has become such a great go-to place for the guitar community."

Questions Everyone Has

What do I need to bring?

Just an electric guitar and a tuner - Cables, amps, tea & coffee are all here.

Do I need to read music?

Not at all - Any exercises will be demonstrated and explained, with resources all being very visual.

Will I have to play in front of everyone?

Not unless you want to - Chop Shop is a place to learn, practice and hang out. There will be opportunities to jam and play as much or as little as you’d like.

I’m a complete beginner - is this for me?

Chop Shop suits players who already know their open chords. If you're starting from zero, one-to-one tuition at Snug is the better first step — and the room will be here when you're ready.

Is the first night genuinely free?
